New Students Preparing to take your 1st Bridge Course

The University of Utah requires that all incoming Bridge Program students have an OFFICIAL AP SCORE or Portuguese NEWL Test score of 3 or higher as proof of meeting the prerequisite for enrollment, with the test taken in grade 9, 10 or 11. If you scored a 3 or higher, your school administrator will list you on the Bridge Program Roster and confirm your AP score with the University of Utah. (Do not enroll if you received an AP or NEWL test score of 1 or 2, as you will be removed from the course.)

To check your AP Score, go to MyAP (myap.collegeboard.org), sign in and view your test score.

Before you register make sure you have the following:

  1. Student Email and Parent/Guardian Email: you and your parent/guardian will be sent a validation code and enrollment confirmation to the email you enter. Make sure you check these emails for notifications.
  2. State Student I.D. (This may be different from your school I.D. number. Please ask your Language Teacher for help to access your State Student I.D.)
  3. Credit card: to pay $15 tuition for Registration.
  4. Student Identification Type (select from the types below):

 

  • U.S. Citizen - If the student is a U.S. citizen you will need to have your SSN (Social Security Number). If you do not have a social security number, you will select “International".
  • International Student – select “International” if you do not have a Social Security Number, and indicate one of the following 5 options, listed below.
 
  1. International Student - if selected, it will show required fields for Country of Origin and Current VISA Type.
  2. Permanent Resident -  if selected it will show required fields for SSN or Alien Registration Number.
  3. Undocumented -  no documentation is required. Undocumented students are supported to enroll in Concurrent Enrollment, including  Bridge Program classes, and to attend college in Utah according to state code 53B-8-106.
  4. U.S. Non-Citizen National - American Samoa - if selected it will show a required field for SSN.
  5. Refugee/Asylee -  if selected it will show a required field for Alien Registration Number.

  

STEP 1

Enroll with the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE)

  • Reminder: You are not registered for your Bridge Course until you 1) enroll with the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE), and 2) register and pay for your course. and, 3) complete the student liability form on your first week of class.
  • After clicking on the 'ENROLL WITH USHE TO ENSURE COLLEGE CREDIT' button below, expect the following:
    • View the 9-min. Video: The Concurrent Enrollment Participation Overview Video.
    • Complete the USHE Enrollment Form.

STEP 2:

Register and Pay for Your Bridge Course

  • Reminder: You are not registered for your Bridge Course until you 1) enroll with the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE), and 2) register and pay for your course. and, 3) complete the student liability form on your first week of class.
  • After clicking on the 'REGISTER AND PAY FOR YOUR COURSE' button below, expect the following:
    • CLICK on your high school
    • CLICK on your LANGUAGE/COURSE
    • PAY your $15 tuition for 3 college credits
  • You will receive a confirmation email once you have successfully completed your Course Registration & Payment. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please check your “junk” mail folder. If you still do not see it, contact contracts@continue.utah.edu.REGISTER AND PAY FOR YOUR COURSE

 


 

STEP 3:

Complete Your Student Liability Form the First Week of Class at Your High School

Once you login to your University of Utah Bridge Course in Canvas, you will be given access to complete this form.
  • Reminder: You are not registered for your Bridge Course until you 1) enroll with the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE), and 2) register and pay for your course. and, 3) complete the student liability form on your first week of class.
