This event is designed for Chinese Bridge students who are currently enrolled in the CHIN 3117 course, which is offered by six public universities and conducted in 29 high schools across Utah. The event agenda includes a campus tour, a warm welcome from our sponsors, and an engaging interactive lecture centered around the history of Chinese Railroad Workers in Utah during the 1860s. Following the lecture, we have scheduled a stimulating panel discussion, featuring an archaeologist, descendants of Chinese railroad workers, and a Broadway musical composer.

The 2022 Spanish Bridge Program Short Film Contest was held, with students from four high schools receiving top awards. 

Mme Jessica Gourdon, journalist from Le Monde, came to Brighton High School and attend an excellent French Bridge course co-taught by Claire Tocaven (University of Utah) and Marianne Sheranian (Brighton High School).

Kate Cabrera Martinez, Ben Lomond High School Spanish Bridge student, is a recipient of a Jazz scholarship for full tuition and fees for four years to attend college, as a first generation student, based on merit and need. Kate has chosen to use it to attend the University of Utah!

At the 4th Annual Salt Lake County Health Department Teen Health Short Film Festival two Spanish Bridge Students won 2nd and 3rd place awards in the Upper Division Category, for their films on the theme of "Stories of Resilience"!

Multiple students from the Utah Chinese Bridge Program won speech awards across multiple high schools for the 2021 and 2022 school years.

Three students in the Chinese High School Bridge Program were awarded Sterling Scholar honors in 2022, from three different high schools. Laurel Dalton, Jiaxin Haslam and Lindsey Lindgren were each honored with the award in the World Languages group.

Multiple Chinese Bridge high school students won awards for their work through participating in the 2022 Utah Chinese Bridge Program Film Festival, Jordan District Film Festival and Herrmian High School Film Fesitval.

Diana Castro, Granger High School Spanish Bridge student, was awared a Merit Scholarship from the University of Utah for $20,000. Diana completed all her high school work in her junior year and will be attending the University of Utah in the fall of 2022.

Quentin Zuttion, Parisian Author Met with Utah French Bridge students in three different high schools (Brighton, Corner Canyon, and Timpview) to present his work during his residency in the USA.

Monica Islas Ortiz, Senior Spanish Bridge student at Granger High School, won the 1st place scholarship for the Utah Central region of Latinos In Action.

After over twenty years of teaching experience, Utah Bridge teacher Juan Carlos Fernández is still focused on providing rich and rigorous learning opportunities for all of his students.
