This workshop aims to prepare current and future Dual Language Immersion (DLI) teachers to create authentic teaching materials for DLI classrooms using learner corpora (i.e., large collections of texts containing language data produced by L2 learners).
When: Friday, July 15, 2022, 9 AM - 5 PM
Where: University of Utah Campus, LNCO Building Room 1910 (first floor)
Who: This workshop is designed for current and future Dual Language Immersion teachers. Priority will be given to teachers of Chinese, French, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.
Registration: Free
Bonus: Participants are eligible to receive University or professional development credits. Information on how to do this will be distributed during the workshop.
Travel, Lodging, and Meals: On-campus lodging (shared room basis) and a $125 travel subsidy are provided for participants living 50 miles or more from the University of Utah campus. Single rooms are available for a single supplement fee of $69.50. Lunch will also be provided on the day of the in-person workshop.
Application Process: To be considered for the in-person workshop, you must fill out the application form and submit a CV/Resumé by June 1st, 2022.
Selection Process: Up to 20 applicants will be selected to attend the in-person workshop. Decisions will be made based on the applicants’ responses to the application form, teaching experience, and educational background.
