 FRENCH DLI PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SUMMER INSTITUTE
A Workshop for Experienced and New French DLI Teachers

 Join us this summer for a 5-day workshop offered in French, specifically designed to meet the needs of French Dual Language Immersion teachers, new and already trained! This workshop is made possible thanks to the FACE Foundation (The French-American Cultural Exchange) in partnership with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States and the Second Language Teaching and Research Center (L2TReC) at the University of Utah.

When:         July 8-12, 2019

Where:        University of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT                                                                              

Who:           This workshop addresses teachers working in all French dual language and immersion model                             types (50/50; 90/10; and full immersion).

Application deadline: March 31, 2019.

The workshop has three main objectives:

  1. Empowering new teachers who are starting or joining a French DLI program.
  2. Presenting new techniques, resources and ideas to already established teachers.
  3. Building beyond a K-6 program.

Throughout the workshop, participants will work on curriculum development (elementary, secondary and beyond). Resources and curricula will be shared throughout the institute and teachers will develop lesson plans to help open and sustain their programs.

Workshop presenters will come from across the United States (California, Georgia, Louisiana, New York, Utah...), showcasing their experience in a variety of contexts and with a range of model types.  

 

Logistics

Registration Fee: $150.

Hotel (based on double occupancy), breakfast and lunches will be covered for out of state participants. A single supplement at $65 per night is available for those participants wanting a solo room. Lunches for in-state teachers are included with the workshop.

Capacity:  Space is limited to 30 participants.

           

Application Process

The application process requires the following steps:

1.  Application is closed now.

2. Please upload your Curriculum Vitae/Resumé using the link below.

3. Please upload a one-page statement of purpose (maximum of 300 words) that indicates how this workshop is relevant to you and your institution and the subsequent impact of this workshop on your teaching and institution.

4. The application process requires a letter of recommendation from your supervisor. (You will provide this information in step 1.)

 

Selection Process

Notification:     Applicants will receive notification of their registration status by April 30, 2019.

Registration:   Once participants have been notified of their selection, registration and payment must be finalized by April 30, 2019. After this date, spots will be allocated to waitlisted applicants.
