L2TReC Instructional Strategies Video Library Reaches Milestone
Launched in 2020 during the Covid-19 Pandemic, the University of Utah’s Second Language Teaching and Research Center (L2TReC) celebrates ongoing viewership in year two of its launch.
Accessed from over 19 countries, with a predominant audience of U.S. educators, the library is divided into two sections:
- Grades K-9 videos illustrate the Utah Core DLI Instructional Strategies;
- Grades 10-12 videos demonstrate effective teaching in courses designed to move students who have passed the AP exam into Advanced levels of proficiency.
The videos hosted in the Instructional Strategies Video Library exemplify best practices in dual language immersion teaching in K-12 classrooms and are designed to support both immersion and world language educators.
Videos are drawn from classrooms representing all six of Utah’s immersion languages: Chinese, French, German, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. All videos are accompanied by explanatory materials that make them accessible and valuable for all teachers regardless of language.
To access the video library and request educator access, please see the video library home page.
This video repository is funded by a US Department of Education Title VI Language Resource Center grant. Title VI supports sixteen language research centers that provide resources to promote and improve the teaching and learning of foreign languages by developing teaching materials, offering professional development opportunities for teachers and instructors, and conducting and disseminating research on foreign language learning.
