2023 Summer Corpus Workshop for Dual Language Immersion Teachers

Creating Corpus-Informed Materials for the Dual Language Immersion Classroom

This workshop aims to prepare current and future Dual Language Immersion (DLI) teachers to create authentic teaching materials for DLI classrooms using learner corpora (i.e., large collections of texts containing language data produced by L2 learners

When: Thursday and Friday, July 13th – July 14th, 2023, 9 AM - 5 PM

Where: University of Utah Campus

Who: This workshop is designed for current and future DLI teachers. Priority will be given to Chinese, French, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish teachers.

Registration Cost: No charge but application and acceptance is required.

Bonus: Participants are eligible to receive University or professional development credits. Information on eligibility and how to register for credit will be distributed during the workshop.

University credits cost $50 plus a $13 transcript fee. Information on how to order transcripts is available here.

Travel, Lodging, and Meals: On-campus dorm lodging and up to a $125 travel/mileage subsidy are provided for participants living 50 miles or more from the University of Utah campus. Lunch will be provided on both days for all participants.

Application Process: To be considered for the in-person workshop, you must fill out the application form and submit a CV/Resumé by May 1st, 2023. Deadline Extended: May 15th, 2023

Selection Process: Up to 20 applicants will be selected to attend the in-person workshop based on educational background and teaching experience.
