Thank you to all presenters and participants, and to the conference sponsors, for making the 8th International Immersion 2022 a great success!

Stay tuned for updates on the 9th International Conference projected for 2024.

COVID-19 Health and Safety

The 8th International Conference on Immersion & Dual Language Education recognizes that we are still dealing with pandemic conditions.  The conference venue adheres to current CDC guidelines with extra measures in place as of January 9th:

Disposable masks will be available for attendees. Social distancing measures include spaced seating at the lunch plenaries and limited/spaced seating in workshops and sessions whenever possible.

To ensure a safe and successful conference, we ask the following from all conference attendees, exhibitors, and visitors:

  • We encourage everyone to be vaccinated against COVID-19 with a WHO-approved vaccine and to be updated with a vaccine booster shot.
  • We encourage everyone to follow CDC guidelines. Current CDC mask guidelines state that anyone older than 2 “who is not fully vaccinated should wear a mask in indoor public places”. (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/about-face-coverings.html)
  • We encourage everyone to practice social distancing while in the conference event space.
  • Please follow any safety guidelines or restrictions implemented by the conference hosts and conference venue during the conference.
  • Please abide by all requirements from Salt Lake County regarding the wearing of masks in public spaces that are in effect at the time of the conference.
  • You should not attend the conference if experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms (including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath, new loss of taste or smell, headache, or nausea or vomiting) or if you have tested positive for COVID-19. If you begin to experience such symptoms or learn that you have tested positive for COVID-19 while attending the conference, please leave the meeting immediately. Do not attend the conference if you learn that you have recently come into close contact (defined as being within six feet for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or longer, over a 24-hour period) with an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19. If you learn of such close contact while attending the conference, please leave the meeting immediately.
  • As the hosting entity, the University of Utah encourages the wearing of well-fitting masks indoors. Well-fitting surgical masks, KN95s, or N95s protect better than cloth masks.
  • We ask that you cooperate with any contact tracing efforts in the event of testing positive for or exposed to COVID-19 while attending the conference.

We will continue to monitor information and guidance from national and local authorities and update this policy as needed.
